The grapes have set. The 2016 vintage is started. It’s a long weather-related and insect-affected journey through the seasons, but the hope of tiny grapes on the vine springs eternal in the heart of a grower. The same vines seem to yield a slightly different result each year. Genetics and environment mingle with each other to produce a unique flavor and character to each year’s wine. And so the various stages of summer mingle with each other as the native flowers bloom and recede to produce unique blends of color and character upon the prairie pallet.
