It’s the season of flash and color; outside it is fireworks time. The vibrant color of the summer-blooming natives are all around. The fireflies are at their peak, with literally thousands of the little light bulbs illuminating the prairie just beyond our deck. The other night, tall thunderheads were aglow as the lightning flashed in the distance while the flashing of the lightning bugs lit up the foreground. The fireworks of renewal continues also as new broods of young ducks and pheasants pop from nests. The fireworks will continue on Tuesday, the 4th of July as fireworks of another kind light up the night sky.
