Home Sweet Home-May 22, 2016

The wild lupines are in full bloom outside my door right now.  The Lupinus perennis is a very special plant, in that it is the only plant upon which the Karner Blue Butterfly will lay its eggs.  The wild lupine is the only plant that is home to these rare butterflies.  Each native plant species has great importance to various other organisms.  There is a very intricate web of life in the woods and prairies of Flyover Country.  Each small part of that web may be “home sweet home” to another inhabitant.
