May 1, 2017-A Day of Contrasts

Early blooming Pasque flowers and Prairie smoke are no strangers to snow.  Their precocious habit runs them into a late snowfall even on May first, here in Minnesota.  I’ve always been told that returning robins get snowed upon three times before spring arrives permanently. Maybe we could extend that adage to the early blooming flowers as well.

In the greenhouse a wide selection of blooming plants are still snug in their temporary home.  The forecast is looking good though, as we now ae shipping plants out.  Besides, I think this was number three for the robins!
