As we enter October, the fields are turning golden-brown and are ready for harvest. The native grasses are now bronzed, yet bands of green still line the low spots. Some trees now show the flaming colors of well-done fall, while others still hang on to the green of summer.
Temperatures from the 40s to the 70s make light layers to short sleeves the appropriate attire. It is the time of the medium-well-done season. It is not summer and not yet winter. It is what I would term the crowning season in flyover country. We should stake our legacy on this season. The land is not yet well-done. It is the perfect medium. Now is the time to enjoy; stick a fork into it!
