Summer Native Poetry in Motion-June 12, 2016

Echinacea purpurea,

It’s so very good to see ya,

As you open sleepy eyes

Under early summer skies.

You’ll be the purple haze

Of brighter summer days,

The coneflower we all know

You’ve just begun to grow.

The cup plant too has just begun

Reaching skyward to the sun.

You’re already half as tall

As our pole shed’s southern wall;

And you’ll grow twice as high

With yellow blooms that touch the sky.
