No Swansong Yet

11/3/2019

As the shallow ponds freeze over in the cold nights, hardy waterfowl find unfrozen patches to remain here a bit longer.  Our loud trumpeter swans still glide past and the flocks of geese continue to feed on harvested fields.
Soon the tundra swans will pass over in great migrating vees.  That is the real swansong that brings in winter.
In the greenhouse business we watch for the signs outside that tell us what to do next.  We have now tucked all of our plants into cold frames, covered for the winter, and greenhouses are now cleaned and emptied.  Many seed trays are in cold storage as we ready for another season.
